Durability and transport properties of SCC incorporating dredged sediments

The use of sediments as supplementary cementitious material is increasing, but very limited information on their effect durability are available. aim this study to evaluate the and transport properties self-consolidating concrete (SCC) incorporating treated marine (TMS) dredged from Dunkirk harbor. Three SCC mixtures made with 0% (SCC-R), 10% (SCC-1), 20% (SCC-2) partial substitution cement weight were investigated. mixture proportions optimized provide adequate characteristics, including high filling passing abilities, well stability. exhibited comparable hardened microstructural at 91 days age, compressive strength 66 ± 1 MPa, splitting tensile 6 0.3 total porosity 9 0.4%. obtained test results revealed that incorporation TMS reduced critical pore volume (<20 nm) due pozzolanic reaction ability. Despite reduction, increasing content increased permeability diffusion (e.g., carbonation). Indeed, SCC-1 SCC-2 showed higher sorptivity 7.5% 19.8%, respectively, than SCC-R (2.81 E-3 mm3/mm2.s½). However, performance reference mixture, chloride penetrability, electrical resistivity, drying shrinkage, external sulfate attack, alkali-silica. Meanwhile, negatively influenced carbonation velocity. This rate can be considered without mitigating reinforced in moderate exposure conditions.
